The Human Resources Department manages and supports the New Bedford Housing Authority’s most valuable assets – its employees. In addition to its role as an advisor to management, Human Resources assists in the maintenance and distribution of Authority policy, oversees the selection and hiring of staff, maintains employee records, and administers employee benefits.

Positions

Director of Leased Housing

The New Bedford Housing Authority is seeking a Director of Leased Housing to manage the operations of our Leased Housing Department.  The Leased Housing Department administers approximately 2000 Federal and State vouchers along with a Family Self Sufficiency Program. The essential functions of the position include monitoring voucher utilization, conducting briefing sessions for new voucher holders and negotiating equitable rents.  This individual will be responsible for all the required Federal/State reporting as well as implementing any required regulatory changes.  A four-year degree in Business Administration or Public Administration and/or five years of management experience is required.

 

Experience in addressing the needs of residents with various socio-economic backgrounds is preferred.  Experience with mixed-income communities is also highly desirable.

Policy Administrator

 

 

 

The New Bedford Housing Authority is seeking a Policy Administrator to perform a variety of administrative functions involved in all aspects of housing management and resident services. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that all the Authorities policies and procedures are up to date with State and Federal guidelines.  The Policy Administrator will be responsible for preparing briefings of regulatory and internal policy changes for Board approval.

Knowledge of Federal and State Housing policies and procedures is required.  A bachelor’s degree with study in courses such as statistics, human relations, public administration principles and practices, systems analysis, financial management, budget, and personnel management is desirable. Prior experience as a housing manager or administrator of a large housing staff is desirable.

Data Specialist

 

This is a responsible, full-time staff support position in which the incumbent performs a variety of routine clerical work involving answering and directing incoming calls, general data entry and maintenance of resident files, document filing, and daily interaction with residents and Authority personnel.

 

Possession of a high school diploma and training in business English, math and data entry is required as is prior experience in and general knowledge of office practices.  The person selected for this position shall possess good oral and written communication skills, the ability to organize and manage time and work effectively, computer literacy, and an ability to work well as a staff member within a team setting.  The ability to speak and understand Spanish is preferred.

Housing Compliance Coordinator

 

 

The New Bedford Housing Authority is seeking a Housing Compliance Officer. This individual will handle, facilitate and monitor program termination proceedings, reasonable accommodation requests, Section 504 requirements, Violence Against Women’s Act compliance, schedule and conduct grievance hearings and investigate and track incidents of fraud.  Tracking of fraud will include maintaining account balances, court dates and repayment agreements.

A general knowledge of the housing industry and a background in working in an office environment is preferred.   The ability to negotiate and address complex issues tactfully and with a business demeanor is required.  The ability to work odd hours will be favorably considered.
