Public Housing Income Limits

Public housing is limited to families that are below the “Low Income Limit”, as set by HUD’s Fair Market Rent (FMR), for the New Bedford area based upon the number of members in the family. Federal income limits are adjusted annually, while State income limits are adjusted on a bi-annual basis. In addition, to be eligible for public housing applicants must:

  • Qualify as an elder, a person with a disability, or as a family.
  • Have at least one household member that is either a citizen of the United States or has eligible immigration status.
